Paper 1- Pattern, Cutoff, Syllabus, Book List, Expert's Tips, Trend Analysis.


Paper-1 for SSC CPO 2017 Examination will be Online Computer Based Test (CBT) consisting 4 parts as follows, 



You can check the Best Attempt and Best Time suggested in above table which is just a 
suggestion from an expert.

Note1-Paper-1 is objective type and question paper set for part A, B & C is also has 
questions in Hindi .

Note2-Paper-1 has the negative marking of 0.25 marks for each incorrect answer but
 there is no negative marking for unanswered questions.

Note3- This Paper does not have a sectional cutoff for all four sections (No Sectional cutoff).

Part 1.General Intelligence and Reasoning :

Syllabus:
It would include questions of both verbal and non-verbal type. This component may include questions on analogies,similarities and differences, space visualization, spatial orientation, problem solving, analysis, judgment, decision making, visual memory, discrimination,observation, relationship concepts, arithmetical reasoning and figural classification, arithmetic number series, non-verbal series, coding and decoding, statement conclusion, syllogistic reasoning etc. The topics are, Semantic Analogy, Symbolic/Number Analogy, Figural Analogy, Semantic Classification,Symbolic/Number Classification, Figural Classification, Semantic Series, Number Series, Figural Series, Problem Solving, Word Building, Coding & de-coding, Numerical Operations, symbolic Operations, Trends, Space Orientation, Space Visualization, Venn Diagrams, Drawing inferences, Punched hole/pattern-folding & un-folding, Figural Pattern- folding and completion, Indexing Address matching, Date & city matching Classification of centre codes/roll numbers, Small & Capital letters/numbers coding, decoding and classification, Embedded Figures, Critical thinking, Emotional Intelligence, Social Intelligence, Other subtopics if any.

 Booklist: 
Reasoning can be done from following books which I have personally referred and which
helped me a lot.
1. R.S.Agarawal Verbal and Non-verbal Reasoning.
2. Kiran publication Reasoning book and Question paper set.

 Expert's Preparation tips: 
1. Analyze the trend given below and prepare your own strategy to solve questions as per your comfort.
2.  Before the exam, appear for few online tests seriously and analyze your score and work on weak areas.
3.  In exam attempt this section first and solve more than 40 questions in 30 minutes
 to score more.
4. Solve the easy and less time taking questions first then take difficult topics to avoid last minute rush.

Part 2.General Awareness :

Syllabus:
Questions in this component will be aimed at testing the candidates’ general awareness of the environment around him and its application to society. Questions will also be designed to test knowledge of current events and of such matters of everyday observations and experience in their scientific aspect as may be expected of any educated person. The test will also include questions relating to India and its neighboring countries especially pertaining to History, Culture, Geography, Economic Scene, General Polity, Indian Constitution, scientific Research etc.

 Booklist:

me a lot.
1. Lucent's GK latest edit.
2. Lucent's  Science book latest edition.
3. Gk today current affairs.
4. Question paper set of any publication for the practice of static GK.

 Expert's Preparation tips: 
1. Analyze the trend given below and prepare your own strategy to solve questions as per your comfort.
2.  Before the exam, appear for few online tests seriously and analyze your score and work on weak areas.
3. In exam attempt this section at second number and solve around 40 questions in 20 minutes to score more.
4. Solve the easy and less time taking questions first then take difficult topics to avoid last minute rush.

Part 3. English:

Syllabus:
Questions in this components will be designed to test the candidate’s understanding and knowledge of English Language and will be based on error recognition, filling in the blanks (using verbs, preposition, articles etc), Vocabulary, Spellings, Grammar, Sentence Structure, Synonyms, Antonyms, Sentence Completion, Phrases and Idiomatic use of Words, comprehension etc.

 Booklist: 
English can be done from following books which I have personally referred and which helped
me a lot.

1. KD campus English book latest edition.
2. Kiran's SSC CGL Tier 2 English book and Question paper set for the practice.

 Expert's Preparation tips: 
1. Analyze the trend given below and prepare your own strategy to solve questions as per your comfort.
2.  Before the exam, appear for few online tests seriously and analyze your score and work on weak areas.
3.  In exam attempt this section at last and solve around 40-45 questions in 25 minutes to score more.
4. Solve the easy and less time taking questions first then take difficult topics to avoid last minute rush.

Part 4. Aptitude:

Syllabus:
The questions will be designed to test the ability of appropriate use of numbers and number sense of the candidate. The scope of the test will be computation of whole numbers, decimals, fractions and relationships between numbers, Percentage, Ratio and Proportion, Square roots, Averages, Interest, Profit & Loss, Discount, Partnership Business, Mixture and Allegation, Time and distance, Time & work, Basic algebraic identities of School Algebra and Elementary surds, Graphs of Linear Equations, Triangle and its various kinds of centres, Congruence and similarity of triangles, Circle and its chords, tangents, angles subtended by chords of a circle, common tangents to two or more circles, Triangle, Quadrilaterals, Regular Polygons, Circle, Right Prism, Right Circular Cone, Right Circular Cylinder, Sphere, Hemispheres, Rectangular Parallelepiped, Regular Right Pyramid with triangular or square base, Trigonometric ratio, Degree and Radian Measures, Standard Identities, Complementary angles, Heights and Distances, Histogram, Frequency polygon, Bar diagram & Pie chart.

Aptitude can be done from following books which I have personally referred and which helped
me a lot.
1. Fastrack arithmetic from Arihant Publications
2. Quicker maths / Vedic maths for shortcuts.
3. Kiran publication SSC CGL Tier 2 Aptitude book and Question paper set for the practice.

 Expert's Preparation tips: 
1. Analyze the trend given below and prepare your own strategy to solve questions as per your comfort.
2.  Before the exam, appear for few online tests seriously and analyze your score and work on weak areas.
3.  In exam attempt this section on the third number and solve around  30-40 questions in 30-35 minutes to score more.
4. Solve the easy and less time taking questions first then take difficult topics to avoid last minute rush.
