Complete Overview of SSC CPO SI Exam Pattern:

For the aspirants seeking decent government job with uniform, SSC will provide the notification with all the details in the month of March/April (approx) and Paper 1 will be held in the month of June/July (approx).

 My this article will provide you overview of all the details of SSC CPO SI exam and minute details can be seen in the other respective posts and links in the website. 


** SSC CPO SI Eligibility Required **
1.Eligibility Criteria :
Candidates need to fulfill the following eligibility criteria of SI CAPF exam which is set by the commission:
 Educational Qualifications:
lAny Bachelor’s degree from a recognized university.
lFor the post of Sub Inspector in Delhi Police only: Male candidates must carry a valid Driving License for motor cycle and car during physical endurance test, otherwise they will not be allowed to undergo physical endurance test.

2.Age Limit:
lMinimum age is 20 years and maximum age is 25 years.
Age Relaxation as per Category:
3.Nationality:
Candidate should be any of the following:
A. Citizen of India, or
B. Subject of Nepal, or
C. Subject of Bhutan, or
D. Tibetan refugee who came over to India, before the 1st January, 1962 with the intention of permanently settling in India, or
E. A person of Indian origin (PIO) who migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East African Countries such as Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia and Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India.
Note: Candidates belonging to (b), (c), (d) and (e) shall have to show the proof of certificate of eligibility issued by the Government of India.

5. SSC CPO SI Exam Pattern and Syllabus : 
Candidates who are appearing in SSC SI CAPF exam must know the exam pattern, marking scheme and syllabus to perform well in the exam. On the basis of the performance in Paper-1, candidates will be short-listed for the Physical Endurance Test (PET)/PST & Medical test. 
And only those candidates who clear the Physical Endurance Test (PET)/ PST and medical test will be eligible for paper-2.


** SSC CPO SI Selection Procedure **
lStep 1: Written Test (Paper-1) (Objective Type) (200 Marks)
lStep 2: Physical Endurance Test (PET) with PST 
lStep 3: Medical examination  
lStep 4: Written Test (Paper-2) (Objective Type) (200 Marks)

Step 1 Pattern : Paper- 1
Paper-1 consist 4 parts as follows, 
(A)General Intelligence and Reasoning, 
(B) General Knowledge and General Awareness, 
(C) Quantitative Aptitude, 
(D) English Comprehension.
lEach part carries 50 objective questions for 50 marks (1 mark for each question and 4 options) , 
duration of the exam is 2 hours.
lPaper-1 is objective type and question paper set for part A, B & C is also has questions in Hindi .
lPaper-1 has negative marking of 0.25 marks for each incorrect answer but there is no negative 
marking for unanswered questions.

 Step 2 Pattern : Physical Endurance Test / PET 
After passing paper 1 , Physical Endurance Test (PET) is for all posts. This test is just qualifying in nature and it will not carry any marks, but still it is necessary to pass for appearing in Paper 2 and further selection process:

Step 3 Pattern : Medical Test (For all posts)

lCandidate must not have knock knee, flat foot, varicose vein or squint in eyes and should possess high color vision.
lEye Sight: The minimum distant vision should be 6/6 and 6/9 of two eyes without wearing specs and should not have color blindness.
lCandidates must be in good mental condition and free from any physical defect.

Step 4 Pattern : Paper-2 

lThis paper will consist of only one subject - English language & Comprehension.
lPaper-2 will be objective type and question paper will be set in English only.
lPaper-2 carries 200 questions and 200 marks with 2 hours of time.
lNegative marking of 0.25 marks will be there for each incorrect answer but there is no negative marking for unanswered questions.

** SSC CPO SI Paper 1 Syllabus **

Part A – General Intelligence & Reasoning:
It would include questions of both verbal and non-verbal  type. This  component  may  include  questions  on  analogies, similarities  and  differences,  space  visualization,  spatial  orientation, problem solving, analysis, judgment,  decision  making, visual memory, discrimination, observation,  relationship  concepts, arithmetical reasoning  and  figural classification, arithmetic number series, non-verbal series, coding and decoding, statement conclusion, syllogistic reasoning etc. The topics are, Semantic Analogy, Symbolic/Number  Analogy, Figural  Analogy,  Semantic  Classification, Symbolic/Number Classification, Figural Classification, Semantic Series, Number Series,  Figural  Series,  Problem  Solving,  Word  Building,  Coding  &  de-coding, Numerical  Operations,  symbolic  Operations,  Trends,  Space  Orientation,  Space Visualization, Venn Diagrams, Drawing inferences, Punched hole/pattern-folding &  un-folding,  Figural  Pattern-  folding  and  completion,  Indexing  Address matching,  Date  &  city  matching  Classification  of  centre  codes/roll  numbers, Small & Capital letters/numbers coding, decoding and classification, Embedded Figures,  Critical  thinking,  Emotional  Intelligence,  Social  Intelligence,  Other  subtopics if any. 
Part B – General Awareness:
Questions in this component will be aimed at testing the candidates’ general awareness of the environment around him and its application to society. Questions will also be designed to test knowledge of current events and of such matters of every day observations and experience in their scientific aspect as may be expected of any educated person. The test will also include questions relating to India and its neighbouring countries especially pertaining to History, Culture, Geography, Economic Scene, General Polity, Indian Constitution, scientific Research etc.
Part C – Quantitative Aptitude:
The questions will be designed to test the ability of appropriate use of numbers and number sense of the candidate. The scope of the test will be computation of whole numbers, decimals, fractions and relationships between numbers, Percentage, Ratio and Proportion, Square roots, Averages, Interest, Profit & Loss, Discount, Partnership Business, Mixture and Allegation, Time and distance, Time & work, Basic algebraic identities of School Algebra and Elementary surds, Graphs of Linear Equations, Triangle and its various kinds of centres, Congruence and similarity of triangles, Circle and its chords, tangents, angles subtended by chords of a circle, common tangents to two or more circles, Triangle, Quadrilaterals, Regular Polygons, Circle, Right Prism, Right Circular Cone, Right Circular Cylinder, Sphere, Hemispheres, Rectangular Parallelepiped, Regular Right Pyramid with triangular or square base, Trigonometric ratio, Degree and Radian Measures, Standard Identities, Complementary angles, Heights and Distances, Histogram, Frequency polygon, Bar diagram & Pie chart.
Part D – English Comprehension:
Candidate’s ability to understand correct English, his/her basic comprehension and writing ability, etc. would be tested.


** SSC CPO SI Paper 2 Syllabus **

English Language & Comprehension:
Questions in this components will be designed to test the candidate’s understanding and knowledge of English Language and will be based on error recognition, filling in the blanks (using verbs, preposition, articles etc), Vocabulary, Spellings, Grammar, Sentence Structure, Synonyms, Antonyms, Sentence Completion, Phrases and Idiomatic use of Words, comprehension etc.


** Other important points to be considered while applying for 
SSC CPO SI - 
1.The Commission shall have the discretion to fix different minimum qualifying standards in each part of Paper I taking into consideration among others, category-wise vacancies and category-wise number of candidates. Only those candidates, who have scored above the cutoff marks fixed by the Commission in Paper I would be required to appear in the Physical Endurance Test/Medical examination.
2.Only those candidates, qualified in PET/PST and found medically fit will be allowed to appear in Paper-II. 
3.For the post of Sub Inspector in Delhi Police only:- Male candidates must possess and also carry a valid Driving License for LMV (Motor cycle and Car) as on the date fixed for Physical Endurance and Standard Tests. otherwise they will not be allowed to undergo Physical Endurance and Standard Tests. However, the candidates who do not  have a Valid Driving License for LMV (Motor Cycle and Car) can apply for all other CAPF’s posts.
